OUR STORY

Garrett and Allie Moore arrived with their family in the summer of 2022, dreaming of a church that would bring the cross-cultural hope and love of Jesus to the college town of Athens, Georgia. Their heart for places like this had been established long ago, as Allie is an Athens native and Garrett came from another academia-meets-blue-collar city in Huntington, West Virginia.

Garrett spent most of his twenties playing songs in coffee shops and venues around the southeast, becoming a regular at places like Decatur’s Eddie’s Attic and Atlanta’s Smith’s Olde Bar. But over time, he came to believe that God was calling him towards ministry. Though music would always be a part of him, he wanted to spend his life seeing people come alive to “the beautiful reality of Jesus.”

Garrett then served for 12 years, ministering to young adults and young families at Perimeter Church, a congregation in the Atlanta area which plants another church around the city nearly every year. Exposure to these innovative, missional, and diverse communities birthed a desire to establish something new, to creatively reach out across the divides and fractures of our world with the good news of true life in union with Christ Jesus.

Garrett is a graduate of Marshall University and Reformed Theological Seminary. He loves being in a music town and continues to enjoy all sorts of music from jazz to bluegrass to soul to folk as well as his beloved Marshall athletics teams (and cheering on the Dawgs with his UGA-enamored kids, of course)! He likes maps and census data and learning about cities and communities and how they are formed by the people within them and the terrain around them.

His favorite thing about being in ministry is sitting together with friends new and old, hearing their hearts, and talking about how the gospel of Jesus applies to each and every facet of life, work, family, relationships, and the common good. So please drop a line and grab a coffee or lunch with him!

The Moores love living in the East Side with their 3 children and miniature Schnauzer, “Bavinck.”
